TRAVEL IMPRESSIONS OF AN ART AND HISTORY LOVER
and my experiences as a teacher in China
Morocco
It was definitely one of my dream travel destinations and my expectations were not disappointed.
Full of clichés in my head and with the feeling that I was traveling to one of the most magical countries in the oriental world, I set off and was overwhelmed by the colors and the exotic.
The journey began in Marrakech and led over the Atlas to Aît Ben-Haddou and Ouarzazate to Zagora, the gateway to the Sahara.
So southern Morocco was my goal, the "real" Morocco as a trader told me, who was a Tuareq from Mali.
The traffic in Marrakech is a scenario that you don't think is possible and I am right in the middle of it with the rental car. Squares and roundabouts where cars, buses, mopeds, donkeys with carts, pedestrians criss-cross their way through the chaos.
The accommodation in the old town of Marrakech was a riad that looked like nothing from the outside, the alleys of the old town and looked like a gem on the inside - an oasis of calm that one would never have suspected.
The craftsmanship and ornamentation in the stonemasonry and carving art, in the faience tiles - overwhelming beauty
Then the landscape that turns more and more into the desert.
